Post war F Dick 10" sharpening steel with one piece integral steel-bolster-tang construciton with hand forged tapered tang and plastic scales. This is the older non-stainless style sharpening steel from F Dick.
This steel has some small rust spots but is not too worn in, it is a medium cutting steel ideal for touching up knives that haven't gone super dull but still capable of bringing back a flagging edge. An excellent steel that brings up a fresh edge very quickly and is especially great with older carbon steel knives.
Friedr. Dick was established in the late 1700's in Germany, a small workshop making files. In 1873, Paul Friedrich Dick took over the company and started sharpening steel production growing the company to over 100 employees and branching out to butchers tools and cutlery. Their steels have developed a cult following among butchers and chefs and the old ones are always a great find having a distinctive fast working but never overly aggressive personality.
